Being Your Best....

Being Your Best...as written by: Dave Carpenter....

We live in a very competitive world, especially in America.
From our entry into the school system right through to our participation in the business world, we are constantly in a competitive environment.
Forced rankings in school and at work have us growing up very competitive.
Literally, from a young age we are programmed to compare ourselves to others.
Exacerbating our personal situation is the fact that we are bombarded with advertising geared to excite our ego. Advertising that bombards our senses from a multitude of media.
Advertising suggesting that we will be a better person if we drive a certain car,
pop a certain pill, etc.
It is no wonder that the vast majority of people evaluate their life relative to that of others. Unfortunately, such comparisons seldom bring peace, the foundation of quantum leap performance. Around every corner is someone with a bigger paycheck, a bigger house, a bigger car or boat, etc.

The real question is.....
How are you doing relative to that with which you have been blessed?

No matter the condition of your life, you are blessed.
If you are alive, then you have the opportunity to experience the wonders of the world.
If you can see, you have the opportunity to see the wonders that surround us—
-something that millions of the world cannot.
If you can hear, you have the opportunity to hear the wonders of the world that surround us - something that millions in the world cannot. The fact is that you are blessed with personal attributes, skills, wisdom and relationships that together create the potential to enable you to experience wonderful things.
Of course, it is easier to blame one's perceived shortcomings on circumstances rather than on our own failure to use that which has been given to us.
Blaming others for our performance shortfalls is, unfortunately, the norm in our society.
The choice is yours.
You can languish in a world of blame and pity.
Or, you can assume responsibility for your performance and make ever better choices.
Yes, you can choose to be the very best that you can be!
The choice is yours!!
