Acting Crazy....

Driving Charlie to the airport yesterday was a leisurely experience....until after check-in he realized he had left behind a very important item.....his medication...
It was not 'life-or-death' type of medication but is a continuous source of good-health.  An immediate decision had to be made...that being I would rush home, get it  and rush back .
Taking fast short cuts proved effective.....until....I got behind a lawn mowing truck/trailer in our neighborhood....
It was then that I sent forth 911 prayers.....what I needed was a Miracle....and Thank God....I got one!
Suddenly the way was clear for me to go full speed ahead!
Arriving back at the airport and finding Charlie on the sidewalk having a ''hissie fit' made me realize how blessed we really are.....
This incident  puts me in remembrance of a Scripture that says....
"All things work for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His Purpose..."
Having faith and depending on God to do the 'impossible' on planet earth sure is a blessing ....be it anxious moments at the airport or concern at the bedside of a dear family member or friend...
Living in the Peace of God....is my  secret place.....in order to cope with all the ups and downs that life throws our way.
Enjoying the 'Good Life'...at ALL costs....is  my 'final answer'!

Vitamins For The Mind….

While taking my vitamins this morning….no, not the Gingko etc. kind…just all purpose vitamins….this thought came to my mind….
What is the health…mental health….coming from my brain into my conscious mind? Do I need supplements, extra nutrients in order to insure that my mind is completely healthy?
Assuredly so…..I confess that my human mind has a tendency to feed itself junk if I do not actively choose what it feeds upon. A full menu of junk food is presented just by turning on my TV set. As I pick up the newspaper there is more junk food….killing, robberies, abuse and misuse.
Being an avid reader, some books present so much garbage that thoughts remain long after the book is placed aside.
Being inundated with all kinds of ’unhealthy’ mental food can result in a real problem of deficiency which causes sickness mentally, emotionally, spiritually and even physically…
A lifetime of poor mental habits is seen through all spectrums of our society.
Therefore, I must make a choice….a decision….about what enters my human mind….and any vitamin supplements that enhances healthiness…is a plus.
Beginning my mornings with three different devotionals….One very sensible/practical, one joyous positive ness and another deep spiritual truths are in actuality….Vitamins for the mind….
My real food is the Bible itself…..
This is what my Bible tells me about keeping the mind…..healthy…
Philippians 4:8...”Guard your hearts and minds in Christ….Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and clean and right, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious….if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise….THINK ON and weigh and TAKE ACCOUNT OF THESE THINGS+++FIX YOUR MINDS ON THEM.”
Yes, there are vitamins for my mind and yours…..
Did you take yours today?

Party Is FINALLY Over....For Now!

Joshua's 3rd Birthday Party time is finally over....it lasted a week.
As we viewed the video last night and said "Party's Over!" he said,
"Don't say that...party not over yet!"

Mommy says, "Thank God, it is over!"
I have to say for a child that has received endless gifts for a week to include big 'Zoom Zoom' four wheeler from Grandfather, Ron, in California...he has taken it in stride quite well....Grandfather Ron sent almost a whole wardrobe of clothes from the Gap to include his clothes worn at yesterdays party.  He received even more clothes as he likes sports clothes and also, got a Spider Man water slide which the adults enjoyed immensely...
Rain was in the air but Uncle Matt showed Joshua the fast way to slide to the delight of all the adults.
Britt provided and did ALL the planning, work and clean up Uncle Chad provided his house for the party....and a good time was had by all....
See pictures below.
Really and truly it is so much fun to see the world through the eyes of a happy and mischievous 3yr. old...

Rolling With The Punches

Do you realize that we can…..we do….teach children…ATTITUDE?
From personal experience with 3 year old Joshua….who is constantly around HAPPY people….I see the results. Joshua is a happy child yet he has his moments of….attitude.
Reading my today’s Guidepost inspiration I find it very profound in this thought of…..attitude….
I quote from this reading of…..What Matters Most?
…..”We’ve talked about ‘rolling with the punches’ in our family since the kids were toddlers.
When things don’t turn out the way you want or expect, …go with the flow. If faced with circumstances you can’t control or change, don’t complain. Make the best of it, which minimizes the impact of the blow.
When you go to a birthday party and get the smallest piece of cake, you still say “thank you” in a nice…not grumpy…voice.
When the soccer coach asks you to play goalie, you play goalie, and only your mother knows that’s your most unfavorite position to play.
When it’s clean-up time, you help clean up, even when you know the other guy made most of the mess.
Much of life involves getting used to things not turning out the way we want or expect, or doing what we…. DON’T FEEL LIKE DOING!
And a lot of it happens within a family, where we have a choice:
To complain until everyone is miserable, or to roll with the punches and trust God, which minimizes the blow.
Both responses are contagious in a family.
That’s why rolling with the punches matters…..”
Correcting wrong attitude is the parents job….Teaching right attitude…is the parents job.
For example: Britt, Ashley and Joshua went to Target on Joshua’s Birthday after our Chuck E Cheese fun time….Tia Ash was planning to have Joshua pick out his own birthday present….
You guessed it….Joshua ‘coped an attitude’….began demanding this and that and in general pitching as we say in the South “a hissie fit”….
You can also, guess what Mommy decided….She took the choice out of his hand….”You will not get anything with THAT attitude! We are leaving”…And they did…
She taught him….’I do not REWARD bad behavior and attitude!’…..Driving away a contrite Birthday Joshua says his…”I’m sorry.” The girls then go to MacDonald’s having a snack and allowing Joshua to play on the playground.
Guess Ashley (and Mommy) did give him the best Birthday gift a three year old could get….a ’What Matters Most?’ gift….of Love…
Course, it will have to be taught again and again…..until it becomes ’his idea and attitude’…..of his own free will. Probably around 35 years of age!
Yes, Rolling With The Punches Matters….. Just ask Joshua!
