Monkeying Around!!!

I look in the mirror
and what do I see?
Just another monkey
peering back at me -
But when I look very, very hard....
Past the shadows that tend to retard -
I see a soul, a spirit, a self
That joyously reminds me
of a little elf.
Then a secret smile way down deep
Tells me God is alive
and NEVER asleep
So I go on my way
knowing deep inside...
That I’m really NOT a monkey...
When in God I abide!
