"You grow up the day you have your first real laugh at yourself."
Ethel Barrymore1879-1959, Academy Award Winning Actress

Smile, Giggle, Laugh

Giggle potential is....everywhere!

Yesterday, watching the children made me very much aware that we adults.....take ourselves much too seriously!

The weighty events of our lives and the world around us often causes us to loose sight of the child in each of us. Believe it or not, the child is still there!

The Curative Powers of LAUGHTER!

Laughter for a Woman's Soul has an article by...Marilyn Meberg....
....Marilyn has done her 'medical research' when she writes.....

"A researcher named Jonathan Leake has discovered how a group of life-enhancing chemicals are triggered by laughter.
These hormones are so powerful, they can energize a person's entire immune system and help it ward off diseases, including the common cold or flu.
Arthur Stone, a professor of psychoneural immunology, has published a paper outlining the most conclusive evidence yet of a link between laughter and blood levels of immunoglobulin A. (This helps people fight illness by marking invading bacteria and viruses for destruction by white blood cells.) Melancholy people had higher levels of cortisones which are associated with stress and can damage people's ability to fight disease. Only now is the role of their uplifting counterparts, the cytokines, beginning to be understood.

God has give us a prescription for joy. All we have to do is fill the prescription...
..Proverbs 17:22...A cheerful heart is good medicine..."

I looked up the word, cytokines, and this is what it says..

Cytokine From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cytokines are a group of proteins and peptides that are used in organisms as signaling compounds. These chemical signals are similar to hormones and neurotransmitters and are used to allow one cell to communicate with another. The cytokine family consists mainly of smaller water-soluble proteins and glycoproteins (proteins with an added sugar chain) with a mass of 8-30 kDa.
While hormones are released from specific organs into the blood and neurotransmitters are released by
nerves, cytokines are released by many types of cells. They are particularly important in both innate and adaptive immune responses. Due to their central place in the function in the immune system, cytokines are involved in a variety of immunological, inflammatory and infectious diseases. However, not all their functions are limited to the immune system, as they are also involved in several developmental processes during embryogenesis.
Cytokines are produced by a wide variety of cell types (both
haemopoietic and non-haemopoietic) and can have effects on both nearby cells or throughout the organism. Sometimes these effects are strongly dependent on the presence of other chemicals and cytokines.

Let me put it like this....recently I had a problem with one of my Digital Picture Programs...
Trying repeatedly to do all manner of repair....talking to four different tech support agents for the program....and repeating again and again the error message...(you know the scene) there was one consistent point in the error that seemed important...kernel32.dll
It seems that this is a windows 'protected' file that is commonly used by other programs to communicate and supplement their program for adding data and pictures etc

Kernel32.dll acts as a ....Cytokine which is used to allow one cell to communicate with another...
A supposed problem with the kernel32.dll could create other problems within the system....
Knowing that within our body the harmony of the cells are vital to our immune system....it stands to reason that anything we can do to sustain this unity in our cells.... would be vital to our well-being and health...
It seems that ....Laughter.....working in conjunction with the cytokine cells....sends signals and communication to other cells to...'relax, don't worry + be happy' enjoy good health and life!'

Rx for today.....Don't take life and yourself so....seriously...
I dare you to look into the mirror and....Laugh

This is our 'Sonia' from Spain...She was an exchange student who stayed with our daughter, Lynn and her family in the late '90's...Sonia....as you can see....is not taking herself 'seriously' even though she has a head full of intellect, a heart of gold, and resources from her family for any career of life.....'laughter' was and is her 'golden nugget' of life....(click on picture to enlarge...you will laugh!)

Expecting Good!

As I was reading my morning's devotion, the first sentence caught my eye...
"I am making room for the expected and unexpected good in my life.
Then it goes on to say.....
I look forward to adopting new behaviors -
patterns of living, giving, and receiving.
I realize that to be free, I do not just release OLD negative surroundings
or relationships, I also release any tendency to respond to a NEW surroundings
and relationships.....in OLD NEGATIVE WAYS...
I am prepared and ready to experience
refreshing choices, innovative communication, limitless ways to
appreciate and be appreciated.
My life overflows with God's good.
I am free to choose that good....today."

Actually this is an invitation for.....CHANGE!
For myself, I get caught in the 'cozy nest' of the 'good life' of which I am so comfortable with each day...sometimes leaving no room for new surroundings and relationships which would enhance my life....
I am certainly guilty of...resistance to change from good.....to better...to best...to .....awesome....
I simply have a long way to go.....before I am free of......ME!
This is the comittment I am making, before God, today....
I am now ready for....refreshing new choices, innovative communication,
and......limitless ways to appreciate the beauty of .... life...in 2007...
Let's get it on!

Panama Canal Zone....teens meet at Bahama Breeze and Celebrate The Good Life!

Yesterday was a great day of seeing a 'Dream Come True'
for my husband, Charlie....
Charlie was a 'military brat' and graduated from high school
in the Panama Canal Zone...
For years he 'lamented' again and again...."I can never have
a 'class reunion' because we are all scattered around the world!"
Lo and behold, 'the world' was put together through the
worldwideweb.....
As a result, yesterday we met in Orlando with Joan & Jerry
from the East coast of Florida, while we came from the West
coast of Florida...
The years dropped away.....the teens from days ago was
much in evidence as they looked at their high school album 'The Zonian'
and reminisced from face to face on each page...
Needless to say, Charlie was thrilled...
As a result I made two new unique and wonderful friends....
Listening to all their tales from years past...Kuwait, Egypt,
London, Peru, Vietnam, Paris, Germany, Israel.....and on and on....
I realized that Charlie was right when he said, "we are scattered
all over the world!"
And yes, there will be a class reunion in July 2007 at
Rosen Shingle Creek Resort & Golf Club in Orlando where we met yesterday.
This is sponsored by the Panama Canal Society which has thousands of members...
As Walt says..... "It's A Small World!" after all....

I have to add a recent devotion that I read a few days ago....it really
applies to all the diverse people that we meet and those that
are in our life on a daily basis.....

UNIQUE

What a joy it is to know that God has created each of us
to be special and unique!
Each of us is a beautful, one-of-a-kind creation.
Pure joy comes with celebrating our unique differences.
Each individiual we meet has the potential to express all
manner of God-given gifts, and we can help support and
encourage the expression of such gifts.
Beauty comes in many different shapes, colors, and sizes,
and God treasures each of us, just as we are.
This world remains complete and whole as we live our
lives remembering that we are precious and unique children
of God, created to express God's love in our own individual and
diverse lives.

Yesterday as I conversed with Joan & Jerry, hearing about their
daughter who is a missionary in Peru along with her pastor husband
and their three children....I was in awe of the beauty and uniqueness
of......these truly good people!
Then hearing of their son who is certainly a scholar....
an intellectual Bible interpreter and writer as well....
it seemed as if life had come 'full circle'....for you see dear Joan,
was remembered by Charlie as 'being real smart' and a 'studier'....
and Jerry was a "James Dean' look alike and good fun-loving,
adventure kind of guy...
Actually Joan said her major was....Biology....and Jerry traveled
the world after having graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy
and became a career Navy man...
Is it any wonder that their life produced such unique and gifted children?
This kind of happenings.....like yesterday....is something to Celebrate....
And so we did!

Smooth Sailing on The Eagle's Nest

Is The Good Life.....always, every day..... Smooth Sailing!
Absolutely NOT!
Irritations, aggravations, annoying situations and
plain ole problems greet us daily....NO MATTER WHAT!
This is a 'known given'....
But they don't really matter in the long run when you
take into account.....the 'eternal' purposes of our
life on planet earth....
For you see....we are meant to....love, forgive, have
peace, joy, patience and unity and spend our lives
......enjoying God and each other...
This being top priority....makes it a Good Life in our
heart of hearts and out of that.....
life flows smoothly within.
We can expect to continue to have....problems...
But we can also expect.....the God of the Universe,
the Jesus of the cross...who came back to life from the dead,
and the person of His Holy Spirit....to meet all the challenges
of life that we face......with us each and every day...
What a awesome way to live!

One of my favorite Psalms is....128:5...LB
"May the Lord continually bless you with Heaven's blessings
....as well as with human joys."
And this is my prayer for YOU as well....

Appreciation is the purest, strongest form of......Love...
Because it is an outward-bound kind of love...
Choice is the true voice of the heart...
Having no choices or options leads to depression, anxiety,
and the condition known as learned helplessness.
Happiness doesn't mean being in a good mood most of the time or experiencing the emotion of joy.

Happiness is a way of life, and overriding outlook composed of qualities such as optimism, appreciation and fulfillment....

Happiness is a choice!

Sad to say, unhappiness becomes a choice as well.
Choose well.....

Abraham Lincoln said, "Most Folks
are as HAPPY as they make up their mind to be."
