"Our Homeland"...Tribute to Our Country

Charlie & I attended our church's "Our Homeland" production last night and it totally 'blew me away'!
The lighting and the tribute to the armed forces which placed all those who have served as 'special guests' made it a very meaningful event.  In addition a 96 yr. old veteran of WWII with many medals and awards for bravery, played his harmonica while uniformed military members from all branches stood at attention in respect and honor.  The music, message and lighting produced by the Praise Choir and Tech Teams were some of the best I've ever seen!
I left in tears.
My heart was broken that somewhere in life, we as citizens of this great land have lost the fervor of the heart that once was 'normal' in American Patriotism. Yes we get glimpses of it from time to time but it once was as normal as....breathing!
It was not just the 'military' that was considered 'patriotic'....it was the citizens, the common ordinary  person on the street.
Where has that gone?  Why has it disappeared?  Where are the young people that understand the history of our past as a nation, under God?
These are the questions that brought tears to my eyes and sobs from my soul as poor Charlie tried to console me as I said again and again, "It breaks my heart, it breaks my heart, I can't stand it....because it is breaking my heart."
Being a military wife and family places me at a disadvantage in being 'objective'.
Love for my country, love for my family, love for my God is the reason I live!
Today I am actually 'in mourning'  ......and prayer while crying out to my Lord....HELP!
Now I am reminded of a scripture, a promise that I/we can bring as a 'reminder' before God as I/we pray... won't you please join me in this....

2 Chronicles 7:14 New Living Translation (NLT)

..." If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal and restore their land."

Our Children

One of my 'truths' that I have always said about our 3 children is....
"They have taken what we taught them in our home while 'growing up' and improved on it with their individuality.....and have become an inspiration back to us...and others as well!"
While I read one of my devotions this morning it reminded me of this truth...
It went something like this:
"A Doctor friend came home late one evening when everyone but his youngest son, Matthew, was downstairs.  Even with his limited awareness of his dad's work Matthew knew his Dad was having a really difficult time. Matt didn't understand what a doctor goes through when a young patient dies, but he knew that his father had been sad all week.
When Matthew went upstairs and then returned he was proudly wearing his dad's  much-too-large-for-him lab coat,
"Look, Dad, I'm you!" Matthew said.
"That's real cute, Matthew, " Steve said absentmindedly.
"No Dad, you don't understand.  Let me be you for a while.
If I'm you, then you don't have to  be!"

Thank God our children are more than what they learn and inherit from us!

Life is Short!
If you are lucky enough to have a choice,
           WHY NOT CHOOSE HAPPINESS?"

Good Word

"You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be HAPPY, and it shall go  well with you!"   ~Psalm 128:2

Being FREE!!! Even to 'act silly'....

I am free to be joyful, playful and loving.
Some may wait for the end of the school year, the end of a work week, or the end of a project to feel free. I am not bound by any circumstance, pattern or habit in my outer conditions;
 I am free always!
Today I choose to be joyful, playful and loving.
I am not limited by location, schedule, day or habit.
Nothing has the power to limit my ability to enjoy this day.
When I choose to be joyful, I call forth the joy that is within me and I express it.
Choosing to be playful, I allow the flow of creativity to enliven the simple activities of my day. I give love by sharing smiles and laughter with those around me.
Nothing limits my ability to choose my attitude. Acting from that freedom, I choose to be joyful, playful and loving.
......Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! !!!!
